Is Achieving the Best Engineering Education Possible?
Is it necessary to have the best education to succeed in the competitive job market? It’s commonly believed that graduates from top universities get hired first. But is that always true?
This idea became more evident when I moved to the cosmopolitan cities of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). What was I supposed to do when companies often required applicants to have a "Western education"?
If you have an engineering degree from a lesser-known university, start from there. As long as your university is reputable, you’ll have the opportunity to advance in your engineering career.
If you settle for just your acquired education, you may miss out on opportunities to enhance your skills and pursue further learning. Remember, education doesn’t stop at graduation; it’s just the beginning.
Use your engineering degree to find entry-level jobs. At this stage, it’s not about salary, but about building credentials through hands-on work experience. I made the mistake of aiming for a higher salary right out of university, thinking my hard work during my studies should be rewarded immediately. However, real success in engineering comes through experience, not just compensation.
Once you have saved up some money, invest in training and advanced studies, particularly from reputable Western institutions. With enough high-quality training, you may have at least equaled, if not surpassed, the value of a Western degree.
You don’t need to relocate for your studies. There are numerous reputable online universities to choose from, providing you with the flexibility to learn from anywhere. The world is at your fingertips.
