World's Tallest Tower: Arabian Race to the Top

Which is going to be the world's tallest building? Why is there any other?

On April 1, 2013, the Jeddah Tower (formerly, Kingdom Tower) commenced construction in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The original planned height was 1 mile. But due to geological restraint in the area it was reduced to 1 km, still surpassing the Burj Kalifa (828 m). It has a budget of US$1.23 Billion which is expected to complete by 2020.

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates has the coming World Expo 2020 as its host. What is going to be the scenario in both countries in that year?

It will be a six-month big event in UAE. The country and investors know that there's going to be an influx of investors during this event. It requires infrastructure and building projects to host this event.

On October 10, 2016, a proposed tower higher than Burj Kalifa breaks ground in Dubai. Its height is not announced. But the government said it is going to be a "notch higher" than the current world's highest. It has a budget of US$1.0 Billion and is set to become the world's highest tower in 2020.

KSA did not announce the final height of its tower, but confirmed that it's going to be not less than 1 kilometer.

This race is without any doubt spectacular and thrilling. We don't know the next event after the completion of these structures. But it is certain that they introduce the world into the new age of infrastructure development towards space.
